Hello and welcome to Inspired, a weekly email for my paid subscribers. In this series I want to explore topics which I hope might spark some inspiration for your own photography. I will talk about my thought process for creating images, both in the field and in post processing. The posts will be linked in some way to the monthly challenges, hopefully giving you all lots of food for thought.
This week is the last week of our colour challenge and I wanted to talk about ways of combining images into pairs based on their colour. This has been something I have been working on a lot recently as I put the finishing touches to my latest zine publication. I will be talking more about this in Monday’s post but for today I wanted to discuss how to look at colour across multiple images.
When I go out to take photographs, especially when I am working on a project, I will always shoot in series instead of working to make only single images. This allows me to create work that can be used for multiple different purposes. And while that may not appeal to everyone, the process of working in sets or series has helped me develop my eye and has given me a whole new appreciation for colour.
I want to begin by discussing how I combine scenes and detail images into cohesive pairs.
