Amazing photos Gill. The way you have captured that beautiful soft light.... wow! Exmoor might be

a bit far away, but there a couple of Australian photographers I would love to do a workshop with (or even enter a mentor arrangement) - I really like their work and would push me in interesting directions.

Thank you very much James.

I think doing workshops with photographers you admire is a great way to be inspired and can take your photography in new directions. I love taking workshops, as a tutor and as a participant as I think you never stop learning.

Enjoyed reading through your blog Gill and your images are amazing. Particularly love the Porlock groyns. I really enjoyed the workshop and love Exmoor. I'm still very new to photography; this workshop was my first attempt in using filters and only my second workshop since taking up photography last year. We had lovely locations and amazing weather; could have done with a bit more cloud but that was out of your control! Workshops are a brilliant way to meet other like minded people and share ideas. Look forward to seeing you soon.

Lovely set of images Gill. Love the Porlock tree and interesting rocks at Kilve beach. I’ve done some part day workshops but not residential as yet as it needs time off work and fitting with holidays. But I do agree, chats with other photographers is where everyone benefits from different experiences and learning snippets of knowledge.

Thank you very much for your comments Terry. It is always good to understand why people take workshops and I agree that time spend with others is really valuable.

I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, Gill. A new and unfamiliar location with some spectacular scenery that I somehow wasn't expecting ... I most enjoyed our time at Watersmeet as I found it easier to see compositions there; I have a tendency to become overwhelmed by grand vistas and make the classic mistake of trying to include everything. I am learning - slowly!

As mentioned by others, I attend workshops is to be fully immersed in photography for a few days with like-minded people with different backgrounds and experiences. It's great to be guided by a knowledgeable leader and stand next to someone and see the view through their eyes.

Thank you for your comments Julia and I am so glad that you enjoyed the workshop. It is a lovely part of the country and I particularly like the varied scenery.

I can relate with your reasons for attending workshops and feel that there is a huge amount to gain from sharing locations and experiences with other like minded people.

A lovely blog Gill... and lovely images to match, as per usual. It's a great part of the country and I'll check out your website for the next trip. Can I ask, how energetic is one required to be? I have muscle probe... better on level ground!

Thank you Tim, I am glad you enjoyed the blog. The workshops aren't that energetic but there are some hills to climb to get to a couple of locations and the beach with the pebbles can be difficult to walk on. It is a lovely part of the world though. 🙂

Beautiful images as always Gill. Looks like you had some gorgeous weather. Completely agree with all your points about workshops though I find the word workshop doesn’t do justice to the experiences that both the leader and participant can gain from being out in nature with like minded people.

Thank you very much Jon. We had a great workshop and some lovely weather, much better than back home which is unusual!

I love workshops for the connection that I get with the other participants and agree that you can't beat being out in nature with like minded people. 🙂

I am blown away by these photos of rocky beaches! I don't have those anywhere near me and they look incredible!

I haven't taken a workshop yet. All of those that I have found have been prohibitively expensive, but I'm hopeful for a more local one before long. I like the idea of connecting with a group of like minded photographers.

Thank you so much Erik, I love the rocky coastline too. My home coast is all shingle which is lovely but it's nice to have a change.

I enjoy workshops for that very reason - connecting with other photographers is always inspiring.

Gill, you have transported me back to one of my favourite places, Linton and Lynmouth, easy walks to Watersmeet and The Valley of the Rocks, the areas of Porlock, Countessbury Hill and beyond. Kilve is not a place I know, so will make a mental note for a future visit. Some ivocotive images in your blog. I think the highlighted benefit of group get togethers is true in most situations, either pleasure or work related, it is that human interaction, we are not designed as solitary beings, we need to commune with others! Thanks again for the Monday morning read, much appreciated!😀

Thank you very much for your comments Chris, I always enjoy reading them.

I am glad the blog and images brought back some memories - it is a beautiful part of the world and so good for photography. Kilve is a fascinating place but can be difficult to photograph. If you go, make sure to visit on a falling tide just after high water, that will give you the best results for photographs.
